Our Story
The patent pending Living Urn®, America's first and leading Bio Urn & Planting System, was developed by entrepreneurial friends who grew up together in Southern California and later relocated to Colorado. We wanted to make a difference in the lives of others while at the same time giving back to nature. The inspiration for this product came after the passing of another friend in 2010 and our drive to create a unique memory that would last for generations.
After spending years working with leading soil scientists and arborists, in conjunction with multiple eco-friendly manufacturers, The Living Urn® Bio Urn and Planting System was born. It is a smart, sustainable and environmentally friendly way to approach an inevitable phase of life. It allows us to give back to nature while, at the same time, creating a living memory to keep our loved ones present in our lives after their passing.
All of the components included in The Living Urn® for People and The Living Urn® for Pets Bio Urn and Planting Systems are 100% organic and biodegradable. Our BioUrn® is made from recycled plant materials and produced only by wetting and drying with pressure – no gluing, no chemicals, no machinery – resulting in a very small carbon footprint! Also included is our planting mix and RootProtect™, our proprietary additive used to offset high pH and sodium levels present in cremated remains. Each Living Urn® also comes with aged wood chips and an attractive bamboo container to store your loved ones remains before planting.
